what now?
action list, updates and upcoming events
SDS has spent this summer researching, speaking with press, and teaching community members and other activists about U-War Park. Our hope for fall semester is to hit the ground running, with enough community and student support to start turning people out for call-ins, protests, and other actions. Until then, keep up to date on our updates (including our strategic manual in the works) and see what actions you can take below.
Sds campaign updates
- We’re formatting and publishing a strategic manual!
Coinciding with the start of the school year, SDS hopes to publish a “How to Stop U-War Park” manual for other organizations, activists and community members to read and draw inspiration from. Our plan for the manual includes:
- Broad strategic guidance from our perspective on how we can fight the Minnesota Aerospace Complex.
- Power mapping, target identification, and threat evaluation to inform others on who to target and how regarding U-War Park.
- Formatted research documents and important sources, publicly accessible and complete with a key to aid in independent research efforts.
- Contact information and our vision for an informal network of organizations and individuals working in tandem to Stop U-War Park.
The manual will be published here in PDF format, updated periodically, and distributed in-print to trusted organizations or upon request.
- We’re bringing our U-War Park teach-in to Rosemount!
The teach-in will be similar in content to our last teach-in, but will be crafted for those who live in Rosemount. Everybody is welcome, but students can expect student-centered presentations on campus starting this fall.
The teach-in will take place on Sunday, August 24th at 2pm at the Robert Trail Library in Rosemount Minnesota.
Action items
Waiting for the school year to start doesn’t mean there aren’t things to be done. Here are some important ways you can help:
- Sign the petition!
Let U administration, the Rosemount City Council, the State government and the milieu of other corrupt institutions we’re up against know how you feel about U-War Park. Click the option allowing us to contact you to recieve periodic updates (starting soon) about our fight against U-War Park.
- Talk to people!
Let students, staff, faculty, Roemount residents and everyone else in your life know what’s happening and why they should care. This affects all of us, and it will take all of us to stop it. Direct them to this website and/or the SDS instagram so they can understand the situation in Rosemount and how we’re working against it. Encourage them to sign the petition and get ready for a fall of action!
- Come to our events!
Come to our teach-ins, panels, and actions as they pop up. As we wait for summer, SDS has a new member meeting, a teach-in, welcome week protests etc. planned and we are excited to connect with you in person.
- Get Creative!
Right now, but especially once we’ve formatted and published our power maps and our broader research, it is ultimately up to you how to act to fight U-War Park.
Do you and your friends from Rosemount feel like starting your own organization? Are you with a city org and looking to incorporate the campaign into your work? Are you a student in high-school or at another twin cities college? Do you work right next to U-War? Do you have important information? Are you somebody from anywhere?
Message us and we will chat about how you can help out. But also feel free to act without permission. The long fight against imperialism begins with you, wherever you are, with whatever you have. Find a place to start, a goal to set, and a time to move. We are always happy to connect, communicate and coordinate our efforts. See you in the streets!
